You will be picked up from your hotel in Makadi bay or Sahl Hasheesh at around 3:00 a.m. by one of our German-speaking tour guides (your tour guide is an experienced Egyptologist). With a comfortable air-conditioned small bus we drive in the desert towards Cairo. Once in Cairo we will be the first to visit the Egyptian Museum. The museum is the world's largest museum of ancient Egyptian art, located on Al-Tahirr square in downtown Cairo. The Egyptian Museum was built in 1900 and opened in 1902. With more than 150 thousand artifacts, it now houses the largest collection of Egyptian art. It extends over two floors with over 100 halls. Among other things, objects from various excavations are exhibited, approx. 1700 pieces from the find of Tutankhamun's tomb, mummies and coffins, many of the finds can be admired almost undamaged. The Egyptian Museum is very interesting and informative.
After visiting the Egyptian Museum, we continue to the impressive pyramids of Giza. The pyramids of Giza are among the best known and oldest preserved buildings of mankind, they stand on the western edge of the Nile valley. The Giza pyramid field has been an important cemetery since the 1st dynasty. The pyramids of Giza were built around 2620 to 2500 BC.
As the next point of our trip we look at the Chephren pyramid. The ancient Egyptian pyramid of Chephren is the second tallest of all the Egyptian pyramids. It was built in the 4th dynasty around 2550 BC. Pharaoh Chephren was buried here. Chephren was the fourth pharaoh (king) of the ancient Egyptian 4th dynasty in the ancient empire. Afterwards we visit the famous Sphinx in Cairo, not far from the Chephren temple. The large sphinx is by far the most famous and largest sphinx. It represents a lying lion with a human head and was probably built in the 4th dynasty around 2520 to 2494 BC. The Sphinx has been rising from the sand of the Egyptian desert for more than four millennia. The Sphinx was cut from the rest of a limestone hill that served as a quarry for the Great Pyramid of Cheops. After all these wonderful impressions, we will drive to a nice local restaurant for lunch.
