Itinerary
Our guide will pick you up directly from your hotel in Soma Bay & Safaga. You embark on a two-hour drive in a high-quality, air-conditioned vehicle.
Before you reach the St. Antonius monastery, cross the heart of the desert. The hermit Antonius lived here in a cave on a 680 meter high mountain more than 1,600 years ago. A staircase with about 1,000 steps leads you up to the cave. There you can admire the ancient writings and drawings of Antonius and enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountains, the desert and the sea.
After lunch we continue through the quiet valley to the St. Paulus monastery. The monastery was built over the cave of St. Paul, a Christian hermit who lived in the 4th century AD. died.
In the evening our tour guide will bring you back to your hotel.
