Highlights

Who can claim to have seen the Valley of the Kings or the Temple of Hatshepsut from above? You will take a hot air balloon ride into the sunrise from Luxor, passing over the Valley of the Kings, the Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, the workers' settlement with their tombs, as well as the Habu Temple, and the Valley of the Queens. You will then visit the Valley of the Kings, the Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Temple of Karnak up close.

Itinerary

Itinerary Luxor 2-day trip including a balloon ride

You will be picked up from your hotel in Hurghada by air-conditioned vehicle, which will take you through the Eastern Desert on your way to the Nile Valley. Upon arrival in Luxor, check into your hotel. Enjoy dinner and a good night's sleep. But beware! The night is short because if you want to go ballooning, you must get up early.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor at around 4:15 a.m., it can also be a little earlier or later. The destination is the launch site of your 45-60 minute sunrise hot air balloon ride with all its ancient temples and tombs.

During your balloon ride you will see the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, the Workers' Settlement and their Tombs, as well as the Temple of Habu (Ramses III) and the Valley of the Queens.

After this exciting balloon ride, you will return to the hotel, where you will be spoiled with a hearty breakfast. Then head to the Valley of the Kings, home to over 70 rock-cut tombs. Continue to the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Around 1:00 PM, enjoy a lunch rich in Egyptian specialties.

After lunch, board a motorboat and cruise the beautiful Nile to the east bank. Pass the Winter Palace Hotel, where Agatha Christi wrote her famous novel, Death on the Nile. On the east bank you will visit the Karnak Temple, one of the most beautiful and largest temple complexes in all of Egypt. After the balloon ride, this temple is the second major highlight of this excursion.

In the early evening you will return to your hotel or private accommodation in Hurghada by air-conditioned vehicle.

General Info

Remarks:

- Changes to the program in the order of the visits are possible for technical or organizational reasons.

- Not all tombs in the Valley of the Kings are always open to the public. Part of the tombs are permanently closed and others may be closed as they are being restored. Visiting 3 tombs in the Valley of the Kings is included in the entrance fee.

- The Tomb of Tutankhamun is optional and has to be paid extra on-site.

- Taking photos inside the tombs is allowed with cell phones in the Valley of the Kings. Cameras must be handed in upon entering and will only be returned upon exiting the tomb.

- With the purchase of a video ticket, costs approx. LE 300, you can take photos or record videos in a tomb. An exception is the tomb of Seti I. Video tickets are only available at the ticket booth near the Colossi of Memnon and not on site. Please speak to your guide well in advance if you would like to purchase a video ticket.

Tips For your Luxor 2-day trip including balloon ride:

  • Request a wake-up call at reception or please set the alarm as it starts early.

Cash in euros, US dollars, Swiss francs, or Egyptian pounds. Unfortunately, payment by credit card is currently not possible.

Payment is made at the time of pick-up on-site.

Cancellation policy:

Free cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. After that, we charge a cancellation fee of 30% of the travel price.

Transfer costs

Transfer costs (hotel pick-up and drop-off) are included in the price.

For more distant hotels and regions there is a small surcharge of

5,- bis 10,- € per Person, z.B. ab The Gouna.
