We will pick you up at your hotel or cruise ship in Luxor. On your tour of Luxor you will visit many sights. Our Egyptologist will take you to the west bank of the Nile, where the city of the dead used to be. You visit the Valley of the Kings. The valley is home to 65 burial sites and chambers of the most important kings of the new empire, three of which you can visit. The Tutankhamun and Ramses VI tombs can be admired for an additional fee.
You see the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, which was named after the first ruler of ancient Egypt. Queen Hatshepsut was the fifth ruler of the 18th dynasty in ancient Egypt and the daughter of King Thutmosis I. She created the first world trade network and her temple is one of the most important temples in antiquity.
The Colossi of Memnon are two statues that stood as guards to the dead city of Thebes at the entrance to the memorial temple of Amenhotep. They were made from blocks of quartz 3400 years ago (1350 BC).
In the Karnak temple, admire the architecture of some of the most beautiful pieces of ancient Egypt. The temple was originally dedicated to God Amun Ra, his wife Mut and his son Kohns. Over time, 30 more kings left their mark. One of the most important architectural achievements of all time is the hypostyle hall, which consists of a spectacular forest of gigantic columns in the form of papyrus.
At lunchtime, your guide will take you to a restaurant serving local delicacies. At the end of the day you still have the opportunity to do some shopping and look for Egyptian antiques. We will then accompany you back to your cruise ship hotel.
