Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is certainly the highlight of any visit to Luxor. This ancient burial site is the final resting place of many of Egypt's most powerful kings, including the legendary Tutankhamun. The tombs in the Valley of the Kings are truly impressive, with beautiful, colorful paintings and hieroglyphics covering the walls. Visitors can enter three tombs with their admission fee, but be aware that you may have to pay extra to see King Tut's tomb. Even so, it's definitely worth it to see the intricate artwork and learn more about the history of ancient Egypt. The Valley of the Kings is also a serene and beautiful location, set amidst dramatic desert mountains. I highly recommend taking some time to simply stroll around the area and take in the breathtaking views. Overall, the Valley of the Kings is an unforgettable experience and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, art, or the beauty of the natural world.

Hatshepsut Temple

The Hatshepsut Temple is one of the most unique structures that exists in Luxor, Egypt. It is located in the Valley of the Kings and was carved into a mountainside in 1479 BC as a tribute to Amun, the creator god. The temple is a true testament to the glorious achievements and legacy of Hatshepsut, one of the most powerful and successful female pharaohs in ancient Egyptian history. What I find fascinating about the temple is its unusual design, which showcases the incredible architectural skills of the ancient Egyptians. The temple’s terraced structure is adorned with detailed reliefs, stunning statues, and some of the most breathtaking views in the world. Standing at the top of the temple and taking in the stunning views of the Nile River and the surrounding landscape is an unforgettable experience. A visit to the Hatshepsut Temple is an absolute must for anyone interested in ancient Egyptian history and culture. A trip to Luxor without exploring this unique structure would be incomplete. So, make sure to add the Hatshepsut Temple to your itinerary and experience the splendor of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are one of the most impressive sights you'll see on your Luxor day tour from Soma Bay. These two massive stone statues, made of quartzite sandstone blocks, once formed part of a complete mortuary temple that was built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned during the 18th dynasty. Rising 18 meters from the plain, the statues are the remains of what was once the largest complex on the west bank of the Nile.

According to myth, the Colossi of Memnon used to "sing" to the sunrise each morning. Although the heat of the sun may have caused the stone to expand and contract, producing a faint whistling sound, it's more likely that the sound was attributed to priests and tourists. Despite the fact that the sound was debunked ages ago, many people still come to see these towering statues lit up by the setting sun.

Apart from their size and grandeur, what makes the Colossi of Memnon so special is the story of their transportation to Cairo, more than 700 kilometers away. This remarkable feat was accomplished by using a massive conveyor system consisting of wooden rollers, sledges, and a canal that led right to the river. Although the transportation must have been a logistical nightmare, the result was a stunning work of art and a testament to the creativity and perseverance of the ancient Egyptians.

Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple is one of the most impressive historical sites in Luxor, Egypt. This sprawling complex contains a vast array of temples, pillars, obelisks, and other architectural feats. As you explore the temple, you'll be struck by the grandeur of its design, which was accomplished over the course of many centuries by different pharaohs. One of the most famous parts of Karnak Temple is the Great Hypostyle Hall, which has an incredible 134 towering columns. As you walk among the pillars, it's easy to feel small and insignificant in the face of such majesty. Other sections of the temple also have much to offer, including the Precinct of Amun-Re, the Sacred Lake, and the chapels dedicated to various gods and goddesses. Seen a lot without stress

We went on a full day trip on December 3rd. The trip was easy to book online, the confirmation came after a short time and the pick-up was done on time. The price / performance ratio was great.

We drove with a comfortable minibus, in which one could sleep through the trip to Luxor. There were a couple of stops along the way where you could stretch your feet and use the toilet.

The Nile trip was worth it, it was beautiful and relaxing. The lunch was delicious, there were also vegetarian dishes and fresh juices.

Although the day was very long, you didn't have the feeling that it was getting boring or stressful, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to do everything. We saw the most important and beautiful sights, it was really breathtaking.
