Itinerary

2-day trip to Luxor from Marsa Alam and Port Ghalib

Tag 1: Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Souk

You drive through the desert and the Nile Valley, past fields and farmers' houses. Once in Luxor, drive to the Karnak Temple complex, the largest temple complex in Egypt. Marvel at, among other things, the large hypostyle hall, the temple of Amun-Re, obelisks and the holy lake. Afterwards, enjoy lunch with delicious specialties at a local restaurant.

Refreshed, you drive to the 5-star hotel we have reserved for you and check in. After a short break, you will head to the Luxor Temple. It was built during the New Kingdom period and was dedicated to the god Amun, his wife Mut and their son, the moon god Chons. Enjoy the sunset from here. You now have the option to watch the sound and light show in the Karnak Temple for an additional charge.

What would Luxor be without strolling through a souk? Discover fragrant spices, traditional crafts, kitschy souvenirs and much more. Maybe you'll find a great souvenir for those staying at home. With this you end your first day in Luxor and return to your hotel to end the evening with a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu Temple, Colossi of Memnon

Optionally, you have the opportunity to experience a fantastic sunrise in a hot air balloon early in the morning at dawn for an additional charge. This unique sunrise appears in three colors, yellow over the desert and the monuments, blue over the Nile and green over the fields.

After a hearty breakfast, check out of the hotel. You drive to the Valley of the Kings, about 5km northwest of Luxor. In ancient Egyptian times, the Valley of the Kings was referred to as “Sechet-aat,” which means “great field.” There are over 70 rock-carved tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Your guide will show you three of the most beautiful tombs and explain the drawings on the tomb walls. For an additional charge, to be paid directly on site using credit cards, you have the opportunity to visit the tombs of Ramses VI. and Tutankhamun to visit.

The mortuary temple of Hatshepsut is your next stop. The temple is a terraced temple complex and a masterpiece of Egyptian architecture. Hatshepsut is assigned to the 18th Dynasty. The name Hatshepsut means “the first of the noble women whom Amun embraced”. The entire temple was built of limestone and is the best-preserved western bank temple in Thebes.

Afterwards you will visit Medinet Habu, part of the ancient necropolis of Thebes-West. There is a large mortuary temple of Ramses III here, which was also dedicated to Amun and is one of the most stylistically perfect buildings in Egypt. On the way to the restaurant you will make a stop at the Colossi of Memnon. They represent Amenhotep III. and originally stood at the entrance to his temple.

After another delicious lunch in Luxor, return to eastern Luxor by boat. Relax a little on this 45-minute motorboat cruise on the Nile. Enjoy the view of the shore with its numerous plants and animals. Once in east Luxor, board your vehicle to return to Marsa Alam un d Port Ghalib.

Please note that this excursion is a private excursion. You can also book this excursion as an individual or couple; our prices vary depending on the number of participants. We, the Zakharious team, are at your disposal and will carry out the excursion with you individually and personally.
